We acknowledge that Butte College and its satellite campuses stand on lands that were originally occupied by the first people of this area, and we recognize and honor the Maidu, Wintun, Wailaki and Nomlaki Tribes. We thank them for their strength and resilience in protecting this land for centuries and aspire to uphold our responsibilities according to their example. In offering this land acknowledgement, we affirm Native American sovereignty, history, and experiences.

Message From the President
You are welcome at Butte College! Our identity is founded on diversity, equity and inclusion. We are proud to be a Hispanic Serving Institution, with more than 30% of our students identifying as Latinx. Additionally, we are proud to house our Multicultural Centers, which includes programs such as Umoja and Puente. You will find that Butte College supports students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds, histories and identities. We hope you will find your place here and that the resources on this site will support you in that process.
Central to our work is an acknowledgement that the history of education also is a history of separation and exclusion. We are committed to examining our institution and eliminating structural inequities and barriers to success. In that process, we commit to providing education and support needed for everyone to succeed and invite all who have experienced these inequities and barriers to participate with us to embed equity and inclusion into all our systems and processes. This is our commitment at Butte College. This is my commitment to you as your president.
